The All India Tennis Association on Tuesday slammed veteran tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi for threatening to drag AITA to the court and said he is free to take legal action against them.
The April 4-6 match will be held at the lush green grass courts of the Calcutta South Club.
Indian tennis legend Mahesh Bhupathi was named the new non-playing captain of the Davis Cup team and will take charge after the Asia/Oceania zone group I home tie against New Zealand in Pune from February 3 to 5. The tie against New Zealand will be Anand Amritraj's last tie as non-playing captain as AITA wants to give him a "farewell". Multiple Grand Slam winner Bhupathi was the hot favourite the moment AITA decided to replace Amritraj.
Defending Nagal, who has been dropped from the team for the upcoming New Zealand tie due to serious breach of discipline, and criticising AITA for publicly humiliating the player, Devvarman wrote in an open letter in the Indian Express that AITA could have dealt with the player privately.
The BJP could win only 16 out of 57 seats where Shah campaigned.
